內(nèi)容摘要：
The world is in the middle of a surging pandemic of obesity that threatens to overwhelm healthcare systems. We know obesity is caused by energy imbalance where intake exceeds expenditure, but debate has centred on whether this is a result of lower activity or greater food intake. Moreover on the food intake side discussion has been intense over whether the issues is increased fat or carbohydrate intake, or lowered protein. This talk will use a combination of mouse experiments and human data to answer these questions.

約翰·羅杰·斯彼克曼（John Roger Speakman）,，世界著名的生理學(xué)家?，F(xiàn)任中國科學(xué)院遺傳與發(fā)育生物學(xué)研究所研究員，英國阿伯丁大學(xué)教授,，博士生導(dǎo)師,。2011年當(dāng)選為歐洲科學(xué)院院士,，2018年當(dāng)選英國皇家學(xué)會會士（即英國國家科學(xué)院院士），2019年當(dāng)選中國科學(xué)院外籍院士,，2020年當(dāng)選美國科學(xué)院外籍院士,。2017年入選美國科學(xué)促進(jìn)會（AAAS）會士。
Speakman院士是動(dòng)物能量代謝研究領(lǐng)域的國際知名學(xué)者和技術(shù)權(quán)威,，他的研究旨在揭示影響和限制動(dòng)物以及人類能量消耗的遺傳和環(huán)境因素,，在人類疾病發(fā)病機(jī)制、生物地理學(xué),、氣候變化,、保護(hù)生物學(xué)和進(jìn)化生物學(xué)等多個(gè)研究領(lǐng)域具有重要意義。他共發(fā)表超過520篇學(xué)術(shù)論文,，H因子為72（ISI）,，被引超過19500次。在多個(gè)研究領(lǐng)域都取得了突破性成果,，對經(jīng)典科學(xué)問題提出了新穎的見解,，對我們更深刻地理解生命具有廣泛深遠(yuǎn)的意義。
